TIER II Canada Research Chair in Developmental Biology and Health
The Faculty of Health Sciences seeks a scholar who uses molecular, cellular, biochemical/proteomic and/or genetic/genomic tools to study the biological processes that underlie early mammalian development and their relationship to social, behavioral and/or environmental factors, and whose research has implications for human development and health. The ideal candidate would have training and research experience in one or more of the following areas: mammalian developmental biology (including teratology), neurobiology, experimental psychology, physiology, reproductive biology, endocrinology, immunology, pharmacology, molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, genetics/epigenetics, or evolutionary biology. The successful candidate will play a central role in an emerging, interdisciplinary team within FHS focused on human development through the life-course and its impact on health.
Candidates should provide a statement of their research interests, accomplishments and future plans. They are encouraged to describe how their research interests relate to a life-course perspective on human health. While the teaching requirement for this position is one course per year, applicants should provide a teaching statement describing their teaching experience and interests, and suggesting upper-level undergraduate and/or graduate courses they would be interested in offering.
This Tier 2 CRC position is intended to link to regional, national and international interdisciplinary initiatives aimed at understanding the mechanisms through which early social experiences and/or environmental challenges impact mammalian, and ultimately, human development, such as the Human Early Learning Partnership (HELP) and the Experience-based Brain and Biological Development Program of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIfAR).
