The Department of Anthropology at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning fall semester, 2011; PhD required by time of appointment. We seek a biological anthropologist who works with New World skeletal populations and has an active research program focused on the adaptive engagement of environments characterized by inequality in the historic and/or prehistoric past. The ideal candidate will bridge departmental scholarship in critical studies of power relations and outcomes for morbidity and mortality, and will contribute to the development of a program in biocultural anthropology, as well as articulate with established programs in cultural, medical and archaeological anthropology.
