2026 Election - Candidate Information
This year, HBA is holding elections for the following positions for fellows: Treasurer, Membership Chair, Development Chair, and Nominations and Elections Committee Members (2). Descriptions for these positions and nominee information is below. A poll was emailed to membership to vote in this election. Active fellows are able to vote in the current election. Voting ends February 27th.
The student committee is also holding elections for three members. Student HBA members are eligible to vote. Voting ends February 27th.
Treasurer (serves a 4-year term): shall be responsible for the administration of the finances of the Association subject to budgetary and other regulations approved by the Executive Committee; (2) shall be the Association's fiscal agent in dealing with other persons or organizations employed on behalf of the Association by the Executive Committee to handle the funds of the Association; (3) shall be responsible for the maintenance of adequate books and records which shall at reasonable times be open to inspection by the Executive Committee; (4) shall render an annual report to the Executive Committee, which, upon approval, shall be presented at the Annual Meeting and included in the Minutes.

Membership Chair (serves a 4-year term): The Membership Chair shall be responsible for recruiting, engaging, and retaining members. The Membership Chair shall render an annual report on membership to the Executive Committee, which, upon approval, shall be presented at the Annual Meeting and included in the Minutes.

Development Chair (serves a 4-year term): The Development Chair shall be responsible for leading fundraising and development opportunities for the Organization. The Development Chair shall oversee all aspects of fundraising, including but not limited to, planning and budgeting, managing volunteers, and setting the vision, strategy, and goals for further development of the Organization. As part of the Development Chair’s duties, the Development Chair will work closely with the President and Treasurer to represent the Organization to donors and collaborating organizations to further the non-profit goals of the Organization.

Nominations and Elections (2 members; serves a 2-year term): In coordination with the President and Secretary and under direction from an annually appointed chair, form slates for yearly HBA elections and solicit nominations for Boas and Little awards.
Nominees (choose 2):
Added to the bylaws at the 2024 meeting, the student committee: "shall represent the Student Members of the organization. A student-elected Representative/Chair from the committee will work directly with the Executive Committee on issues that affect the organization and Student Members. The Student Representative will serve a 2-year term. The Student Representative must be enrolled in a doctoral degree program or higher ranking (including members post-doctoral positions) but must still be a Student Member of HBA. The Student Executive Committee shall also assist the Executive Committee in volunteer coordination, marketing, events, and membership on behalf of the organization. The Student Committee shall be comprised of four Student Members that are elected at large by the Student Members. Such elections shall comply with the rules and regulations as set by the Nominations and Elections Committee."
